Why St. Juan Diego?
San Juan Diego is the only Holy of indigenous descent to be canonized by the Catholic Church Although it took more than 424 years to be recognized, finally in 2002 was canonized by Pope John Paul II.
During the same time that the church regarded the indigenous peoples as "savages without souls," God chose him to bring a message of reconciliation between two worlds. He is truly an example that anyone who opens his heart can be a tool God, no matter what the rest of the world thinks.
